Four EECS Faculty win inaugural Google ML and Systems Junior Faculty Awards!
EECS Assistant Professors Natacha Crooks, Sagar Karandikar, Amy Pavel, and Rishabh Iyer have been selected to receive inaugural Google ML and Systems Junior Faculty Awards. This prestigious award recognizes early-career faculty whose research is advancing the frontiers of machine learning and systems.
Each award includes $100,000 in unrestricted research funding.
“We are paying this forward for the next wave of groundbreaking and frontier research at the intersection of ML and systems. It is a challenging time to be conducting critical academic research given uncertainties in the funding environment. While Google’s funding is only a small part of the overall need, we hope that others across industry, government and philanthropy will find ways to support research and education to keep this crucial driver of our technology ecosystem vibrant,” said Amin Vahdat, VP/GM of Google’s ML, Systems, and Cloud AI division, in a blog post.
